And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright! 37 But in the end, when he [who has thus sinned] appears before us [on Judgment Day,] he will say [to his other self,] "Would that between me and thee there had been the distance of east and west!" for, evil indeed [has proved] that other self! 38 When ye have done wrong, it will avail you nothing, that Day, that ye shall be partners in Punishment! 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 Whether We take thee away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 or make you see the end that We had promised them, for We have full power over them. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 And verily it is an admonition unto thee and thy people; and presently ye will be questioned. 44 Yet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped! 45
