۞ And certainly We gave to Ibrahim his rectitude before, and We knew him fully well. 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
