The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and so am I: 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
