Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me." 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 So leave them in their error till a time. 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 We are hastening to reward them for good deeds? No. They do not comprehend. 56 Only those who are, out of fear of Him, humble before their Lord, 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 And those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord; 59 who spend their property for the cause of God, and whose hearts are afraid of their return 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 We do not lay a burden on anyone beyond his capacity. We have a Book with Us that speaks the truth (about everyone); and they shall in no wise be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in perplexity as to this, and they have deeds besides that that they are doing. 63 until - after We shall have taken to task, through suffering, those from among them who [now] are lost in the pursuit of pleasures - they cry out in [belated] supplication. 64 (It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us. 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers? 68 Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him? 69 Do they say he is mad! No, he came to them with the truth, but most of them hate the truth. 70 If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way; 73 but those who do not believe in the Hereafter are ever prone to deviate from the Right Way. 74 ۞ And if We have mercy upon them and remove the calamity which has befallen them, they would still stubbornly persist, wandering in their rebellion. 75 And indeed, We tested them through suffering, but they did not abase themselves before their Sustainer; and they will never humble themselves 76 Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein! 77
