The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 Yet, when they see a sign they [who deny the truth] turn their backs and say, "The same old sorcery!" 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
