The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right. 38
