The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
