Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim! 1 The perspicuous Book is witness 2 We have sent it down in a blessed night (We are ever warning) 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations), 5 A mercy from thy Lord. Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you (but) have a faith with certainty. 7 There is no god but He: He gives life and causes death. He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore. 8 Nay! They play in doubt. 9 Wait for the day (which will come before the Day of Judgment) when the sky will give out dense smoke 10 covering the people; this is a painful chastisement. 11 Lord, remove this torment from us for we are believers". 12 How can there be for them an admonition (at the time when the torment has reached them), when a Messenger explaining things clearly has already come to them. 13 Then they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman." 14 Were We to ease the torment for a while, you would still revert to denial of the truth. 15 The Day when We shall seize them with a mighty seizing, that will be the Day on which We shall inflict upon you full retribution. 16 ۞ We tried Pharaoh's nation before them. A noble Messenger came to them, 17 "Give in unto me, O God's bondmen! Verily, I am an apostle [sent] unto you, worthy of trust! 18 and do not exalt yourselves in defiance of Allah. I have come to you with a clear authority (as a Messenger). 19 And verily I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me. 20 If you do not want to believe, leave me alone". 21 Then he called to his Lord: "These are a sinful people." 22 We commanded him, “Journey with My bondmen in a part of the night – you will be pursued.” 23 "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." 24 How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. 25 And cornfields and noble places! 26 And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! 27 Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)! 28 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited, 29
