The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches; 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
