The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Who will be honoured 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
