The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
