Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A crowd of earlier generations 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 They had been affluent before, 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 filling your bellies, with it 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
