The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and shade extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
