In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou folded in garments! 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children grey-headed (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)? 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Indeed this is nothing but a Good Counsel; so let him who will take a way leading to his Lord. 19
