Al-Balad

The Town (Al-Balad)

20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Does he believe that none has seen him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. 11 And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 to an orphan near of kin; 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 Upon them is a fire, in which they are imprisoned, closed and shut above them. 20

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
