Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 Others will be despondent, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
