The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
