The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
