The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
