Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
