He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe [of God] 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
