The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
