The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the breath of morning 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
