The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
