Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is split, 1 when the stars are scattered, 2 When the oceans begin to flow, 3 And the sepulchres are overturned, 4 A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind. 5 O MAN! What is it that lures thee away from thy bountiful Sustainer, 6 who has created thee, and formed thee in accordance with what thou art meant' to be, and shaped thy nature in just proportions, 7 In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together. 8 Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day, 9 Surely, there are guardians watching over you, 10 noble scribes, 11 who know all that you do: 12 As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss; 13 and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace 14 They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense, 15 And thence they shall not be allowed to be absent. 16 And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense? 17 Again, what could let you know what the Day of Recompense is! 18 It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah. 19
