The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 Verily We have created man into toil and hardship. 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Did We not give him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 and downtrodden destitute person, (so that he would be of) 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 Those are the companions of the right. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
