Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Travailing, worn. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
