Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."' 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 "'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? 14 "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other 15 and placed therein the moon as a light and the sun as a torch. 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 and [then] He will bring you forth [from It] in resurrection. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
