The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
