Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)

8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things), 1 Until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die). 2 But no, indeed, you shall soon know. 3 But you will soon come to know. 4 Nay, if you could but understand [it] with an understanding [born] of certainty, 5 You should most certainly have seen the hell; 6 Then ye shall surely behold with the surety of vision. 7 Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!). 8
