Some of the Pharaoh's nobles considered him to be no more than a skillful magician 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the magicians were obliged to fall prostrate. 120 They said: we believe in the Lord of the worlds. 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 "Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on apposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross." 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
