The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
