And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ Away! away with that wherewith ye are promised; 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 for, indeed, We had vouchsafed revelation unto Moses in order that they might find the right way. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings. 50
