Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
