The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
