He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe of God 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
