۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
