The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He has created man: 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
