And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 [Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship. 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? 150 Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say, 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell! 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn) 171 will certainly be victorious 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
