Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier than these; such was the example of the earlier peoples. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
