The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
