The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
