The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 Dhu Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), Fastawa [then he (Jibrael - Gabriel) rose and became stable]. [Tafsir At-Tabari]. 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
