By no means! By the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning to mankind, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 except the people of the right hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
