The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
