He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
