Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Stars (Al-Najm). Sent down in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
