O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 We hasten unto them with good things (in this worldly life so that they will have no share of good things in the Hereafter)? Nay, but they perceive not. 56 Surely those who tremble in fear of their Lord 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 And they who do not associate anything with their Lord 59 And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- 60 These hasten to good things and they are foremost in (attaining) them. 61 And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 Till when We grasp their luxurious ones with the punishment, behold! they supplicate. 64 We shall tell them, "Do not cry for help on this day; you will receive none from Us". 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Was it that you did not give any thought to it (the Quran)? Was it different from what was revealed to your fathers? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 Had truth been subject to their whims the heavens and the earth and all those within them would have been depraved. In fact We had sent them their reminder, but they turned away from good advice. 71 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ Even if We showed them mercy and relieved them of their afflictions, they would still persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We struck them with torment, but they did not submit themselves to their Lord, nor did they make themselves humble 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
