The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
