The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
